  • Human & Social Services Pathway

    The Human & Social Services pathway at the Pike Career and STEM Center is ideal for students who are passionate about helping others and interested in careers that support mental health, social work, and community well-being. This pathway focuses on developing healthy communication skills, empathy, and the ability to empower others while also helping students better understand themselves and the importance of self-care.

    Students explore real-world topics that impact individuals and communities, including mental health, trauma, grief, relationships, sexuality, intimacy, religion, culture, and personal identity. Through guided discussions and hands-on learning, students gain a deeper understanding of human behavior and social systems while building emotional intelligence and professional awareness.

    The program emphasizes:

    • Career Readiness Training
    • Practical, real-world experience opportunities
    • A two-semester course structure
    • Three college credit hours per semester
    • Availability for juniors and seniors

    This pathway creates a strong foundation for students interested in careers such as counseling, social work, psychology, human services, education, healthcare support, and community outreach. It prepares students with the communication, compassion, and critical thinking skills needed to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
