  • Education Professions Pathway

    The Education Professions pathway at the Pike Career and STEM Center is designed for 11th and 12th grade students who have a passion for teaching and working with children. This pathway provides hands-on experience in real classroom environments, as students spend time each week assisting in Pike Township early childhood, elementary, and middle school classrooms. Students gain meaningful insight into what it truly means to be an educator.

    Courses in this pathway include Principles of Teaching, Teaching and Learning, and Child and Adolescent Development. Students learn key educational theories, professional expectations, classroom management strategies, lesson planning, instructional preparation, and how to integrate technology into teaching. The program also emphasizes assessment and evaluation practices that are essential for effective instruction.

    Students have opportunities to earn valuable credentials and experience, including:

    • Career Readiness Training
    • CPR Certification
    • Dual Credit (College Credit)
    • Practical classroom experience
    • Participation in state and national competitions

    These opportunities help students build confidence, professionalism, and a strong foundation for future careers in education.

    Graduates of the Education Professions pathway are prepared to pursue careers as teachers, early childhood educators, instructional assistants, school counselors, and education administrators. This pathway combines real-world classroom experience, academic preparation, and industry-aligned credentials to prepare students for success in college and education-related professions.
